Our Pastor
Josh Russell was born in the foothills of North Carolina. At the age of 15, under Holy Ghost conviction, he was gloriously born again! Joshua was an athlete through high school, excelling in baseball and football. It was during his senior year of high school, with scholarship offers to consider, that the Lord began to separate him for a greater purpose.
In August of 2010, Josh surrendered to God’s call to be a preacher of the Gospel.
Under to tutelage of his pastor, Preacher James Lockee, Josh began attending Bible college and preaching the Word of God.
From 2014 to 2016 Josh was the Pastor Ross Hill Baptist Church in western NC.
In 2016 he met his wife, Sarah, and they began courting. During this time the Lord called Josh to resign as the pastor at RHBC and shortly after he became the assistant pastor to his Pastor, James Lockee at Liledoun Baptist Church.
On April 14th, 2018 Josh and Sarah were married. And in March 2019 they welcomed their first daughter, Evelyn.
In August of 2019 God called Josh and his family to pastor in Pageland, South Carolina at Lighthouse Baptist Church. There they ministered in their community through the pandemic from August 2019 to May 2023.
They also welcomed two more daughters, Amelia (2021) and Anna (2022).
In March 2023 the Lord began calling the Russell Family to be church planters. After surrendering to that call and subsequently resigning the pastorate the Lord put Texas in their hearts. With the support of their home church, Bethany Baptist Church of Thomasville, NC and their Pastor, Tom Fields, they began making preparations to move to Texas.
In October of 2023 they began Bethany Baptist Church of Terrell, Texas.
A church passionate for reaching lost souls and building the faith of believers for Christ.

Our Core Values
For a more in-depth look at our church’s doctrine please see the page “Our Doctrine”
Preeminence
of Christ in the Church
“And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; and, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled”
Colossians 1:18-21 KJV
Propagation
of the Gospel to the World
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Mark 16:15 KJV
Proper Treatment
of Others in the Church
“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;”
Romans 12:10 KJV
Purity
of Doctrine in the Church
“But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine.”
Titus 2:1 KJV
Perfection
of the Saints in Christ
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
Ephesians 4:12-16
